Introduction
There comes a point when you feel the need to get clear on what you want in life. You realise you’re doing everything… but still feel unsure, hopeless and even resigned to the fact that maybe this is as good as it gets for you.
You’re busy. You are always productive. And you never seem to stop trying to figure it out.
But deep down, there’s a quiet question:
“Is this actually what I want?”
Getting clear on what you want isn’t about having all the answers overnight.
It’s about learning how to listen to yourself — and then act on it.
This guide will walk you through a simple, grounded process to help you gain clarity and move forward with intention.

Why It’s So Hard to Know What You Want
Before we fix it, let’s understand it.
Most people feel unclear because:
- You’ve been following expectations (not your own preferences)
- You’re overwhelmed with too many options
- You’re disconnected from your body and intuition
- You’re afraid of choosing the “wrong” thing
Clarity doesn’t come from overthinking.
It comes from awareness + action.

1. Stop Asking “What Should I Do?”
Instead, ask:
- What feels right for me right now?
- What do I actually enjoy?
- What drains me?
“Should” creates pressure.
“Want” creates direction.
👉 This is your first mindset shift:
You’re allowed to want what you want — even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

2. Get Honest About What You Don’t Want
Clarity often starts here.
Write down:
- What feels exhausting?
- What no longer excites you?
- What are you doing out of obligation?
This removes noise.
Example:
- Don’t want burnout
- Don’t want restrictive routines
- Don’t want constant pressure
Now you’ve created space for something better.

3. Reconnect With Your Body (Not Just Your Thoughts)
Overthinking blocks clarity.
Your body gives signals your mind ignores:
- Tension = misalignment
- Lightness = alignment
- Resistance = something is off
Try this:
Go for a walk without your phone.
Move your body (Pilates, yoga, stretching). Yoga vs Pilates: Understanding the Differences and Benefits
Clarity often shows up when your mind quiets down.

4. Start Small (Clarity Comes From Action, Not Thinking)
You don’t need a 5-year plan.
You need a next step.
Ask:
- What can I try this week?
- What feels like a small “yes”?
Action creates feedback. Feedback creates clarity.
Something that I love is Notion Calendar, which allows me to see things clearly in order to take steps forward. Because it is very overwhelming to start. Also, Notion Workspace is unbelievable for organisation, and it is very user-friendly + the free version is great. I use it for everything from grocery lists to vision boards. Below, I have linked The Clever Fox: Self-care Journal, which is also such a great way to help with figuring out the best direction and action steps forward.

5. Create a “Clarity List”
Instead of a vision board, try this:
Write 3 categories:
- What I want more of
- What I want less of
- What I’m curious about
This keeps things realistic and flexible — not overwhelming.

6. Let Go of the Pressure to Have It All Figured Out
Clarity is not a one-time decision.
It evolves.
What you want now might change — and that’s a good thing.
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is direction.

7. Build Confidence Through Consistency
The more you act on small decisions, the more you trust yourself.
Confidence doesn’t come before clarity.
Confidence is built because you take action — even when you’re unsure.

Simple Affirmations for Clarity
Keep these grounded and repeatable:
- I trust myself to figure things out
- I am allowed to change direction
- Clarity comes through action
- I listen to what feels right for me

Final Thoughts
If you feel stuck, it’s not because you’re lost.
It’s usually because you’ve been listening to too many outside voices — and not enough of your own.
Start small. Stay consistent. Keep checking in with yourself.
Clarity isn’t something you find.
It’s something you build.
